Hurdsfield Primary School's Pupil Responsibilities

Pupil Responsibilities

Hurdsfield Primary School values the voice of its pupils and encourages older pupils to take additional responsibilities as follows:

School Prefects

Our school prefects are also known as the 'Encouragement Squad' across school and their role is to support all learners to independently demonstrate our school values across all aspects of their school life.  They hold an important whole-school roles and also act as ambassadors for our school: showcasing what makes our school amazing to all visitors.

House Captains

Our House Captains play a very important role in the leadership of our school and are responsible for the motivation of their houses to earn house points each week. The House Captains have the responsibility of providing other learners with certificates for their achievements.  They speak to members of their houses during the day and help mentor members of their house who need support.  They are true captains and amazing role models across our school.

Learning Council

We are proud to place the needs of the pupils at the heart of our school improvement agenda and one way in which we do this at Hurdsfield Primary School is by our Learning Council.

Our Learning Council has been set up to ensure that there is a permanent pupil perspective and input into what makes fantastic learning at Hurdsfield Primary School. The aim of the council is to ensure the children become an active part in the design and development of the learning process with a focus on reading, lesson content and structure, and wider personal development of each pupil.

The Learning Council will focus on the following themes over this year:

  • How we continue to promote reading for pleasure for everyone
  • How we ensure that everyone knows the important number facts needed to become maths masters
  • I learn best when...
  • How we continue to improve our school environment
  • How we continue to develop our school curriculum to make it as engaging as possible
  • How we continue to make our extra-curricular experiences as meaningful and engaging as possible
