Equality Information and Objectives

At Hurdsfield: only our best will do (for every child) no exceptions

Our ethos around SEND is simple:

ALL children CAN, DO and WILL learn!  Our teaching is based on ensuring challenge for all of our children in every part of their school life.  We will not lower our expectations for pupils' academic success or behaviour but instead ensure we provide all of the support they require to meet our expectations.

Levels of support:

Some children are supported in school with an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan).

Other children are being supported through School-based plans. At Hurdsfield, we have a clear system of identifying children with SEND including a 'First Concerns' register where intervention and support are put in place to support children as appropriate.

Our school has adopted the Cheshire East SEN toolkit for early and accurate identification of children with SEN.  We firmly believe in the early identification of developing learning and social needs and ensuring provision is used to close any gap from forming.  We take a proactive, not a reactive approach to closing any gaps.

The Cheshire East SEND Toolkit can be found using the following address:

http://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/livewell/local-offer-for-children-with-sen-and-disabilities/education/supporting-send-in-education/send-toolkit.aspx

If this applies to your child then you will have been informed and invited to attend a meeting with the class teacher and Mrs. Brownhill. Your views are very important to us when creating targets and deciding on provision for your child. If you wish to discuss any of the paperwork please contact Mrs. Brownhill at any time using the school's contact details.

Working with Parents
Supporting parents is also very important for us at Hurdsfield; Mrs Brownhill will meet with parents of children with additional needs at any time. Our door is always open.

You can call the school on 01625 383 008 or alternatively you can email Mrs. Brownhill using the following email address: sbrownhill@hurdsfield.cheshire.sch.uk
